I wasn't getting along with the older DR 350 that I bought a couple of months ago, the kick-start prooved hit or miss at times whether or not it would start the bike, despite learning the technique for it well, and after it was dropped in the dirt (quite a common occurance with me onboard) it would flood the engine and require a 20 minute wait before it would start again.
So after a pretty busy Friday bike-night which saw me meeting Cezar down at Chelsea Bridge to do some tourist-guide duties for his visiting friends, fooling around in Soho, going to the stunt meet and then having us all hear one of our friends, Martin, had an accident on the way, we rode to the scene to find Martin with an ankle injury and a pretty badly smashed up bike, poor chap. Then at around 3.30am some bright spark had the idea that we could go to a late-opening McDonalds somewhere down the A40. Not that most of us wanted to eat junk food, but it was a ride and everyone was still in the mood for some fun. There are some pictures here.
I got back in at 5am, though I know I wasn't the last to get home, hehe.. I woke up early on Saturday to ride to Rod's house so we could go back to the bike shop (keep biking) where I got the DR 350 and had a look at some new bikes. I did have my eye on a brand-new model, but it turns out it would have taken two weeks to get ready because.. it was an import! We didn't know this and I was pretty damn dissapointed with the shop for not telling me in advance, but it turned out that there was a 2001 model in blue, 7k miles going for a grand cheaper off an already very good price.
Because it wasn't brand-new, it has some scratches and hadn't even been washed, so at least I don't have to worry about dropping it in the mud :) If you think dirt-biking is cheap, don't believe it, I had to spend £100 straight away on essential protective items for the bike, then £300 on protective items for myself, an insurance hike, £50 on a new rear-tyre that wouldn't spit me off on the road and £150 on service items and dirt-bike tools/workshop items and er.. a bit of an indulgence .. £280 on a lovely Arrow titanium exhaust system which I've put an order in for.
The bike rides impecably well, it's far more gutsy than the DR 350 and has an amazing top-end for a dual-sport bike. It hangs with sportsbikes in town and has been known to loft the front wheel from time to time on a whim.
Hopefully Rod will feel suitably motivated next weekend to take us out to Hemel where we can have some fun off-road. Bonza! There's some pictures here.

dood, you must be the best paid developer known to man?!?!?!
from Tim (z750) :)
Not at all, you've just got to save your pennies!
seems to be lots of photo's of the bikes, but not many of you on them doing anything special
thought you were going racing...have you bottled it..?
I'm juggling the commitement required for a new job and building the necessary resources for any racing, so no, I've not bottled it, I'm just making sure I properly prepared and don't go into it without a good chance of making some progress. Foolish rush in where angels fear to tread, and all.
Though I have to admit, the DRZ has opened my eyes to a whole new world of riding and I reckon this could get a fair bit of my time if I can find enough places to go in the area.
....and put £500 a month a-side to re-pay the loan sharks!
Eh? What loan-sharks? Thanks for confusing me.
i think you've bottled it...the money excuse doesn't wash mate. you're spending shit loads on stuff all the time. classic case of all the gear, no idea.
i've seen you on serval forums handing out ill-informed advice and making out that you're some fast-group hero. i've seen you on a trackdays and you were one of the slowest in the fast group...and it wasn't even a very fast group that day, i was lapping most people
suggest you reign in your comments and obsevations, as you simply accnot live up to your billing
Think what you like Mr Anonymous, you're entitled to your opinion. I think it's spiteful and perhaps a sign of a degree of jealousy that you come here and post these comments, when you could quite easily challange me face-to-face, or on specific points at the aforementioned forums. Why does it bother you so much that you feel you should come and say these things?
I know I'm lucky to be in a position to be able to enjoy the things I do, and own the things I do, but I certainly don't go out of my way to rub it in anybody's face, so I'm not quite sure where you're getting these views about me making out I'm some fast-group hero, I certainly don't. I think I'm an honest and down-to-earth guy, I openly admit I'm new to track riding and by no means anywhere near the skill level of the front-runners... You're coming to these conclusions on your own, and I'm lost as to why.
As for ill-informed advice, I only share what I've seen be the end-result of either first-hand experience , or from others experiences. I'm not some consultant here, nobody's oblidged to take my advice, and if you know I'm wrong about something, why don't you challange the point and add to any discussion?
Essentially, I see you as a cowardly arm-chair critic with some sort of chip on their shoulder that means they're so concerned with what other people do or say. Get a life, and go see a therapist whilst you're at it, biking should be about camaraderie, and you're doing nothing to help the sharing of good advice, or feeling.

There are dozens or others. You are a MASSIVE hypocrite, proclaiming that you always pots positive comments. The majority of your posts are either to show off about buying something or to put someone else down or correct them on something. Tosser
Oh, you do make me laugh, thank-you for that :)
You've just proven how much of a complete retard you are. You also have a very poor grip on how to read people. Am I somehow meant to feel incriminated by those two posts? Anybody with half a clue can see in the first one that it's a friendly jab. Jonesy is a someone I've met in person and had a laugh with. We all come off at the track at some time, and I think it's perfectly healthy to joke about it, if you don't, then you're only going to fear it.
And who is complaining in the second post? I was asked about the bike, and replied... LOL.. you idiot.
I take it you're the same person who tried all this sort of flaming a while ago, from the gixxer crew. Still upset that I didn't stop using the site? Well tough-titties, it's not yours and you don't get a say in who's a part of it.
Don't bother posting here again, as I'll just delete your posts. I have better things to do with my time than respond to someone like you who can't see the forest for the trees.
Sorry wouldn't of really bothered replying but i just got wireless network in and watchin telly so here goes :).
What you on Mr. Anonymous. Whats your problem, I'm pretty sure Jay works his arse off and is proud of everything he owns, bloody right he shows it off as do all of us (whats the fuckin point of havin a bike if you can't show off??!!??!). Regardless the whole point of a community like GixerCrew is that people share experiences and hobbies, and for gixercrew that hobby is owning and modding GSXRs. Furthermore if you were part of the spirit of that community you would of introduced yourself had you recognised Jay at a trackday like everyone on the site does all the time.
He's done a fair few trackdays and has never (to my knowledge) professed to be somesort of "Fast Group" hero, not that it fuckin matters cos it should be more about enjoyment than bein the fastest out there anyway. Especially considering even the fastest "Trackday God" is still playin "Sunday League", compared to the real fast boys (GP, WSB, BSB, IMTT, etc).
I'll put money on the fact that your the same bloke that whinged about my shit wheelies and not getting my knee down on my site, that was the whole point, i was takin the piss out of myself.
Anyway I hope I come across you on a trackday cos my z750 is gonna kick your arse, in a peg scraping, commuter stylee.

Tim
Mr.Anonymous you have just managed to show yourself up as a total retard. I have read those two posts and see nothing wrong with them infact you could see similar posts on most bike forums. Personally i think your just a jealous sad tosser.
what an interesting series of posts
i have to say, i agree with this Mr Anonymous guy on some points.
i go on gixercrew too, and lots of jay's posts are irritating and confrontational....and have received a backlash from many regulars on there
my motto is "if you can't take it, don't give it out".
i think the morla for Amethi/Jay is don't post show off comments and pictures of £1000's of add-ons on public forums, unless you do it in an inclusive way
i suggest you stick around people who believe you are what you pretend to be, rather than straying on to public forums, where more geniuine people and faster riders will expose you for what you are...a poser and a fraud
i suuspect you'll delte this post, as it doesn't conform to the regualtions of your site, in that it doesn't put you on a pedestal or kiss your ass....but i can live with that
Agreed, you float around from bike forum to bike forum posting the exact same old shit, boasting about what you have purchased and what you are going todo.
God help us when your new bike arrives, no doubt every single bike forum on the internet will get inundated with more pictures and 'updates' Oh look I've ordered this and look at me I'm so much better than you type crap.
I quote: http://www.sportsbiker.co.uk/
Well, it's a long wait for those of us who've put money down on a K5 thou ( brag brag brag ) and my mind's buzzing with ideas for mods and parts have already started arriving ( brag brag brag again ) so I thought I'd take a picture of a stock K5 and add the modifications I've sorted out already in Photoshop ( yeah thanks for that )
Also what happened to you becoming a test rider for one of the race teams ! or the full set of carbon fairings, or the GP inspired swingarm ! Bit of a dreamer aren't we Mr Adair..
- Steve
Guys a forum is a place where you can post whatever you like, its a free country. We all use them in different ways and get different things out of them. We all also have different priorities when it comes to spending our hard earned money. Jays is buying nice things for his bike, good on him, he's entitled to do what he likes with it.
There's always gonna be someone who doesnt like whats posted on a forum with so many members, but say so at the time or ignore it.
Whats the point of coming on here and giving him sh*t about it? All he does is have a bit of banter the same way as everyone else and shows off his bike and whats he's done with it, it is after all a bike forum.
"you float around from bike forum to bike forum posting the exact same old shit"
COULDN'T AGREE MORE
Tony
OK, I've been watching this, and I feel it's time to join in

If you can't get your knee down, do you really think you can live up to your comment? You're just as bad as Adair....no wonder you two massage each other ego's...and other things no doubt
Im amazed that people have came to jay`s site to post this crap. At the end of the day he doesnt force you to read his posts you could quite easily skip them. As for Jay`s Bikes/Mods i think you will find that he pays for it all and if he enjoys doing so good on him, I dont really see it as bragging what hes doing to his bike whats he ment to day say nothing? As i said earlier some jealous people about.
haha, dood, it was a joke :), christ man lighten up.
Tim
Blimey, if I'd have known I'd have forced so many people to have read my posts and look at my pictures, I'd have shot myself forthwith. I must be some kind of omnipotent diety, able to force so many people to do those things from the comfort of my chair (Yes that was sarcasm).
I'm grateful for those that have said something in my favour here, but I have to say, I'm not really that bothered what the flamers are saying, it's doubtful they can be reasoned with, considering their motivation for coming here in the first place.
I remember now what a friend once said to me, about being careful what you do with nice things, as people have an odd way of getting very jealous and turn seemingly mad on you. I thought they were joking, and I certainly didn't think I'd be the target for this. I'm a member of multiple forums, where I've done the same as everyone else who uses them, and made a bunch of net-friends. Those friends have expressed interest in my bikes in the past, and so I've happily shown them pictures. This is the basis for the picture posts, and so if you're believing I'm posting them to somehow fulfil a fantasy about having the best bike in the world; you're nuts! I post them as people are interested in them, the same way I'm interested in seeing other peoples work.
I work bloody hard to be able to do the things I do with bikes, and make sacrifices accordingly, not that it's anyone elses business mind. I have NEVER claimed to be fast, something that I'm not, to have the best bike, to do all the best things.. I'm a regular guy who happens to have a great passion for bikes, loves spending my earnings on them and gets as much use out of them as I can..
What I don't understand, is why people are feeling oblidged to read my posts, and then come here and say these things. It's a free country, read what you want, and not what you don't want to. If you spent time with me in person, you'd see I'm nothing like the guy you're trying to paint a picture of here. It seems to me that there's a bit of bandwaggon jumping going on here, and peolpe are losing sight of what these forums are all about, to have fun and share experiences... Am I not doing that? Have I somehow gravely offended anyone with my actions?
But after all that, I have to say, it doesn't bother me that much, I'm quite in touch with who my friends are, and aren't, and I'm not so vain or shallow that I'd delete these posts, we're all grown-ups here, I hope. I don't go out of my way to offend anyone, or belittle them. I have enough humility to say this though; if I've offended anyone with my actions, I apologise, let it be known, that wasn't my intent.
Hi i am Gary from the gixer crew site, sorry for the language .... but what a load of wankers you lot are, (you know which ones you are,) if i didnt like someone i wouldnt waste my breath on them but you lot slagging Jay off, well you must be sad, yes he has oppinions but we all do, and for you to come to his site and say what you say, god you are sad, you waste your time writing about him in this manor, havent you got anything better to do, i'm sure some of you are from the crew site, so why dont you say who you are, weak? perhaps your worried what regulars on the crew site will think of you,
any way Jay, never met you and keep up the good work, love the site, i used the bullet cam section to fit up my bike
thanks
Gary - Gixew crew (gixergary)
Hi Jay I have to mirror what Gixergary has posted....keep up the good work matey....
Gixermik (also from the Gixer Crew)
First of all, Thank you all!! I very bothered on my office when I decided to check up some of jays pics in this website. I was surprised when I saw this posts here but found it quite entertaining, thanks again! As you all can see(read) by my english I'm not er...English and I'm not used to see things by the negative side, sorry! When I saw Jays posts, photos and comments I thought'HUMM! This guy has some bloody nice ideas' You see I love bikes too and always have them in my garage. I do love race and bike races too! I love to look at them and always wanted to race one and own one. I know it is not possible for someone , say 'normal' like me or even you but it's nice to think I could...Why you guys go to the NEC show? London show? Well, I go ther to see what's new, the race bikes, the new models etc. We are so lucky that nowadays the advances on the bike tachnology are coming to our road bikes quiker than never. Why don't enjoy it? Why don't put your bike as near as possible to a race one? Off course a GP bike is a long shot but a BSB or even WSB spec(ish) is not that far away. If you are on a trackday and the fast boys tell you that the best tyre to be fast is a supercorsa. Why the hell you will still on your road tyres???? what I mean is you don't need to be fast to have the good stuff, do you? actually I as new to trackdays as jay is and do feel safer on supercorsas and a good setup bike rather than a standart one even if I can't ride it to the limits! I don't care if you who ride on tracks for years will pass me flying by on your shit(sorry but usually they are shit) old ex-writeoff track bike. I can't brake like you just before a corner but for sure with my brembo master cylinder, braided hoses, better pads, discs, etc. I do better than if I was on original ones. I feel so much ispired for jays bikes and I really thank him for all the research work he did looking for new mods and tell me (gladly) where to get them from and cheaper! I cant wait for his k5! I want to see this bike and ask for a ride on it too. I'm sure jay will make look gorgeous. I really don't know in what point of your lifes you stoped to see things on a nice way and become jelous? Do you fancy one too? Off course you do! So here goes my advice to you Mr. anonymous and cia. Fist go to study! you will need that! then go to a nice job agency and look for a better job, work hard, save money and when you be ready I'm sure that my frind Jay will give you the all tips on where to get the good mods for your new bike and better, cheaper! Come on?? the guy is 26 and have done things that people on their late 40s still dreaming yet. What are you missing people? imagination? good advice? money? balls? have something more important to do perhaps??
My name is Cezar and I'm not anonymous. Also if you want to see my bike that Jay helped me to built go to the link bellow. I haven't finished it yet due to other commitments but I'm open for suggestions if you have anything constructive to say. otherwise shut the fuck up , please!!!!
http://www.bikepics.com/members/bike2travel/
bloody luverly that thing Cezar!
Tim
Brought a lump to my throat Cezar :-) Nicely put in your pidgeon English... LOL Rod
Hi,
Havent been on Jays site for sometime.
Looking at the above negative comments, I really think you are jealous idiots with no life.
Jays a good bloke, his riding has really gone up hill since the days of the R6.
I also think the mods he has done to the gixer were carefully thoughtout and most if not all done to improve the bikes handling/power.
I suggest if people dont like Jay, or cant come to terms with young clever people, you pi$$ off, your comments make you look stupid!
All the best and see you soon.
TJ
Thanks Tim! Rod, what the fu*** you mean by that? english is perfeito mate! I tell you what if it was better i would put that idiot so down and feeeling so small that he would need a had to get dowm from his chair. Anyway, Hope to see you guys in the summer or as soon the british weather allows....Pidgeon english? blah!
Hahaha, It's OK Cezar, you know I am multi-lingual so I have no problem understanding you. Yes I'm starting to collect dates now for the 2005 track day season. I'm looking forward to getting out there with you and the guys and to be putting the engeeeeen into the cooourve and to see what jifference my new 'secret weapon' mods have made to my Gixxer... First up probably Mallory (will let you know the dates).
Rod
I wouldn't mind something like that to warm-up, then when we're in great-weather territory, do Oulton Park, Brands Hatch GP, Silverstone GP, Cadwell Park, Donnington GP and Spa.
mmmm pity about the neg comments.. i can see the ego war going on but Jay, do what you wanna do.. at your age it's ok to stretch the bank managers patients to have great things.
as for showing off.. good on you.. i wish i'd have had the opportunity and finances to do what you are doing now. Good luck.
