Silverstone GP Trackday

Ten days and counting until my first trackday on the new bike, this feels a little bit like deja-vu, I'm sure I was saying this only a couple of months ago, hmm. A friend and I have booked places with No Limits for the Silverstone GP trackday on the 30th. Fredy and I will be on the track and Cezar will come to watch and make some good videos of us.

I'm holding off any further mods to the new bike as I am entertaining the idea of getting or building a trackbike for next season, which would help eliminate the worry about damaging nice road bikes and spending whole summers repairing them, though there's other issues like transport to think about first. Anyone got a tatty K1 750 they want a new home for? :)

600 miles and 1200 speed cameras

Well, the new bike is officially broken-in now, with the mandatory 600 miles of semi-sensible engine load out of the way. The first service is this Friday which means the weekend is left free to explore the true capabilities of the engine and handling. So far I'm utterly impressed, the handling threw me at first as it's totally different to the K1, requiring a more aggressive amount of counter-steer to commit to corners, though I'm putting this down to the far-from-perfect Bridgestone tyres on there. This aggressiveness makes for a lot of fun, it's a real hoot to ride! Race air-filter and Yoshimura ecu remap (on the dyno) coming soon, and hopefully a trackday this month to really find out how easy it is to scare Gixxer Thou' owners.

Whooar!

All the boys and girls went to the Brands Hatch round of British Superbikes today, we had a real good time, I love BSB. There were some very entertaining races and some real hairy moments for many, many riders coming out of Clearways corner. There was a particulary bad crash (video, 14mb) which I caught on the camcorder, it was very nearly a crowd-flyer, were it not for the rubber marshals island.

The new bike is awesome, more to come when I've finished riding it...

Money can buy happyness

Well, I was completely devastated after my bike was stolen last week, but upon being motivated by my friends to get a replacement bike, I've spent a shed load of money and feel absolutely amazing for it, it's really lifted my spirits, even my friends are really excited! I pick the new K4 GSXR 750 up tomorrow from the dealer, and then it's straight back to fit a new Akrapovic race exhaust, take the standard numberplate/holder off and fit something a lot tidier, smaller and then head down to the Chelsea Bridge and Soho bike meets, the weather looks like it's going to be the first massive bike night of the year!

Thanks to everyone who's dropped me a line to lend their support after the theft, it's really appreciated.
